Prayers and Novenas for the Sick

Prayer can be a great way to face an illness, as it can help us find support and transcend the pain. But, more importantly, it can help us let Christ into our lives: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11: 28). After all, did not the Fathers of the Church call Jesus "Christus Medicus"?

There are many prayers for the sick, including healing prayers. Some of them are centred around asking for the intercession of saints considered healers and miracle workers, such as St. Charbel, St. Peregrine, and St. Raphael. Whether you are praying for yourself, for a close one, or generally for all the people suffering physically or mentally, prayer is a kind gesture to bring appeasement and comfort.

Union of Prayers for the Sick

Illness can, unfortunately, provoke feelings of loneliness and isolation: these feelings can be experienced by the sick person, of course, but sometimes also by their close ones. Prayer is a strong bond that connects us. We don't have to be alone when going through pain, and we can allow ourselves to be supported by a community of prayer. Whether you choose to pray regularly and dedicate a special time of every week to spirituality or occasionally with a novena, Hozana offers you to unite in prayer and support spiritually all your brothers and sisters who are currently facing the challenge of illness.

Novenas for the Sick

The Saints, such as St. Therese of Lisieux or Our Lady of Lourdes, can help us entrust our healing prayers to the Lord. God grants His children the graces they need, whether they require their bodies, souls, or hearts to be healed. Novenas are prayers repeated over nine days. They can allow us to enter into a deeper state of spirituality. They can help us open our hearts to God's grace and His restorative love!

Prayers for Sick Children

A child's illness is challenging for both the child and their family. Watching our child endure pain causes us to ask ourselves many questions, many of which are often left unanswered. Prayer is a source of support to parents and their children: let the light shine on ill children's daily challenges and hardships by taking the example of Chiara Luce Badano or Claire de Castelbajac's mindset.

Prayers for Cancer Patients

There are specific prayers and novena dedicated to cancer patients. St. Peregrine is the saint we

typically address for this illness, as he had cancer in his lifetime. Hozana allows you to create your prayer community, which you can dedicate to a sick close one. You can also share a prayer intention with the rest of the community, which will be displayed for 48h.
